Trail Overview
Beginning near the Playa Loop outside Santa Fe, this scenic offshoot heads southeast, eventually reaching the Pacific coast where it intersects with the longer coastal route that runs nearly all the way to Todos Santos. Several variations of the route appear on onX, but the main trail is generally easy, alternating between stretches of chunky rock and soft sand. Along the way, you'll navigate a series of gentle arroyo crossings--most are dry, though one section shows clear signs of holding water after storms, requiring caution in wet conditions. As the trail progresses, it passes a handful of small ranches before descending into a final arroyo. From here, you can either turn right and follow the arroyo directly to the beach or continue straight for a slightly easier approach that connects with the main coastal route.
Difficulty
Overall, this is not a particularly difficult trail, though it does feature a mix of sandy stretches and rocky sections that require careful wheel placement. While a well-driven 2WD vehicle with good ground clearance can potentially make it through, a 4WD is strongly recommended--especially in such remote terrain, where a single misstep could easily leave you stranded.
