Trail Overview
Branching off Dos Ranchos Road, this trail descends onto a well-maintained northwest-bound route frequently traveled by local vehicles. The terrain consists primarily of mid-height desert vegetation, with a light covering of sand--typically around two to three inches deep. Along the way, a fork to the right offers an easier northern path, but continuing straight leads to a smooth ride until reaching the outskirts of a ranch. Upon descending into the Arroyo past the Ranch, the trail becomes significantly more challenging, with a deep silt bed cutting through a wide arroyo. Airing down or engaging 4WD may be necessary here. Beyond the arroyo, the road intersects with a lesser-traveled route, where a left turn leads toward the coast and a right connects to more frequently used trails.
Difficulty
For most of this route, 4WD won't be necessary, but beyond the ranch, deep silt beds can make traction challenging. In dry conditions, airing down your tires or engaging 4WD may be helpful, while wet conditions can turn this section into a significantly more difficult obstacle.
