Trail Overview

This is an incredible trail; not only is it so much fun to ride, but it is also full of surprises. It's like some kind of rocky oasis, where you will stop no matter what, and if you ride during hot weather/summertime, it's the perfect spot to take a swim! And why not spend a night or two camping there on the side of the trail? The views are just so beautiful and so diverse. Expect lots of rocks and water crossings--one of them you will have to drive through a rocky pass with water on top. It's not very deep, but challenging for sure. There are some steep slopes with loose rocks, lots of tight turns, and some long straight lines of loose, shallow sand. Lots of fun is guaranteed. High clearance is a must. Ask locals before taking this trail during the rainy season, especially after rainy days.

Difficulty

High vehicle clearance is a must for this trail. There are loose, rocky, steep hills and large sections of loose sand. There's a water crossing with a solid rock bed. Make sure you have satellite communication or any GPS device; it's a very isolated trail with no cell signal along the way.

This trail should not be considered a 2 or 3, very easy but enjoyable. A few houses through the road but very nice people. I do recommend to do it to explore surroundings and find very nice nature views.

No issues at all with land owners. Actually only saw one truck hauling some horses during the entire trail. Took me just under 4hrs to complete

Great route! 3-4 shallow water crossings that could be much deeper after rain. Lots of loose rocks and a fair bit of sand that alternated across the entire length of the trail. I would recommend traveling south on this trail. There was a fair amount of livestock traveling the trail along the way and a few locals traveling in trucks or horseback.

Got about 20miles north bound, from chided insurgentes , was stopped by land owner (gringo) hunting with a group. Had some underlying hostility to why we were on that road / trail and suggested we turn around, as “were a long ways from home and don’t really know the area…” once we agreed we’d turned around, he asked our destination and suggested going the northern route, and some other local , more welcoming trails and suggested we stick to those, and tell our friends… this south leg up to the intersection has multiple gates and private land, travel at your own risk…
