Trail Overview
This route begins where the pavement ends, roughly 10 miles northeast of Ciudad Constitucion at Ejido Numero Cinco. It starts as a wide, corrugated but maintained dirt road with a light layer of sand. As you leave the ejido, you'll notice some trash scattered along the right side, which quickly disappears as traffic fades and the road becomes increasingly remote. At a fork, the left spur leads toward Agua Verde, but this trail continues right, gradually dipping in and out of a dry arroyo--though after heavy rains or hurricanes, expect possible river crossings. The route passes several small ranches and occasional side roads heading to more remote homesteads before arriving at the quiet town of Batequitos, nestled along a portion of the arroyo that holds water even in dry seasons, as evidenced by the lush vegetation nearby. The trail continues another 33 miles toward the coastal village of Timbabichi.
Difficulty
This route is easily navigable for any 2WD or 4WD vehicle with reasonable ground clearance under dry conditions. However, be aware that during or after storms, this section may feature up to half a dozen water crossings.
