Trail Overview

Turning off FS 2300, this is a slow 2-hour climb to the fire lookout tower. The trail has loose rock and many switchbacks with amazing views from the lookout tower. The last climb up to the tower is not very wide and quite steep, with loose rock and random boulders on the trail. The trail was completed with a locked-up 60 series Land Cruiser and a 3rd gen 4runner.

Difficulty

This trail is mostly moderate, with the final climb to the tower featuring loose rock and a narrow section. Four-wheel drive with good tires is recommended for this portion.

Not sure 3/10 is an accurate difficulty rating, but we completed the trail in 2 2nd gen Colorados. 4lo the whole way, very steep with next to no spots to pass any traffic you may encounter. Last pitch up to the lookout is indeed very rocky and loose. The trail up had a few slick sections and lots of deep cross ditching. Was freshly brush cut, so no pinstriping on this one. There is limited and condition dependant cell service at the lookout, but the main portion of the trail is offline
