Telkwa 1000 Road

Telkwa 1000 Road is a scenic, 10.4-mile unpaved route running along a 500kv transmission line corridor west of Telkwa, British Columbia. The well-maintained road follows the Telkwa River valley, offering views of the surrounding mountains with very little technical difficulty. It is suitable for stock high-clearance four-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive vehicles, featuring a gentle grade that climbs from 1,890 feet to a maximum elevation of 2,240 feet. Short spur roads branching off to utility towers provide quick side explorations and clearer views of the wilderness. Because of the remote location, visitors should watch for wildlife such as bears and moose and prepare for changing weather. The route is best traveled from late spring through autumn.
