Trail Overview
Simpson Main is a gravel logging road that starts off relatively wide but gradually narrows into a single-lane track with encroaching vegetation. It is an active logging route, so exercise extreme caution - logging trucks may be present, it gets dusty fast, and visibility drops quickly. Yield to trucks and use a radio if possible to communicate your presence. The trail surface is generally flat with some potholes, and it offers occasional views of distant mountain ridges through cut block areas. The road is lined with new growth trees, berry bushes, and in its later sections, colorful wildflowers create a scenic drive. The trail is accessed from Koprino Main and becomes more remote and overgrown as you approach the end.
Difficulty
This is a gravel road suitable for all vehicles. The main challenges include dust, potholes, and active logging truck traffic. The final stretch is narrow and brushy, which may leave pinstripes on wider rigs.
