Trail Overview

The drive to Shelton Lake is one of those classic Vancouver Island logging road adventures that keeps getting better the higher you climb. The route follows a well-used forest service road that steadily gains elevation with a constant uphill grade. The road continues climbing until it finally reaches its destination right at the shoreline of Shelton Lake. The trail ends at the old recreation site, where you’ll find a quiet lakeside setting that feels far removed from the busy world below. It’s a great spot to stretch your legs, enjoy the water, cast a line, or settle in for a peaceful break before heading back down the mountain. While not an active recreation site anymore, there are a couple of spots to set up a tent at your own risk.
