Trail Overview

This is the location of an old fire lookout that has been dismantled, with great views; this is still an awesome day trip that overlooks Merritt and Lower Nicola and southwest Stoyoma Mountain.The trail is a steep climb on a rough trail into the alpine rewarded with great views! 4x4 vehicle highly recommended. Snow can linger in shaded corners well into mid-June.

History

Promontory Lookout was once home to a forest fire lookout station, which was dismantled in 2007 due to the constant vandalism it faced. This lookout offers spectacular views of Merritt and Lower Nicola. Promontory Lookout is located at an altitude of 5625 feet, which makes you feel like you are on top of the world.
