Trail Overview
Kingdom Forest Service Road (FSR) near Bralorne, British Columbia, is in the South Chilcotin Mountains. This route winds through dense forest with beautiful mountain views, making it a good wheeling choice for wilderness scenery. The road is known for its variable gravel conditions, and anyone planning to explore it should be prepared, as the location is very remote.
The Kingdom Lake Recreation Site is a popular base camp, featuring 15 campsites, a boat launch, and opportunities for canoeing and fishing. The surrounding mountains provide sweeping views of the Coast Range. The FSR also serves as an access point for several hiking trails, including routes to Noel Lake and Lost Lake, both known for their quiet beauty and alpine character. One of these trails can be accessed directly from the Kingdom Lake Recreation Site, the Kingdom Lake to Lost Lake Trail.
Difficulty
The Kingdom Lake FSR has a variable mix of well-maintained gravel sections and rougher sections. Drivers can expect the potholes, washboard surfaces, loose gravel, minor rockfall, and potential washouts. A high-clearance AWD or 4WD vehicle is strongly recommended, especially for those planning the full route or exploring side spurs. Weather can change quickly in the mountains, and rain or snow can significantly worsen road conditions.
