Trail Overview
K Main branches off the Side Bay Main T500 Trail, aka "Side Bay from Port Alice," and was originally intended to connect to Teeta Main, but dense overgrowth and fallen trees make the trail impassable after approximately 5 miles. The trail is a single-vehicle-width dirt track that sees very little traffic and remains relatively smooth and free of potholes. It's lined with tall trees and heavy brush on both sides--while overgrown, there is still enough room to pass through without damage for most rigs. Be cautious of a deep dip where a stream cuts beneath the road at Mile 4.5. This short route is a peaceful forest cruise. Just be prepared to turn around before the blockages.
Difficulty
K Main Port Alice is mostly an easy, narrow forest trail with smooth dirt and minimal obstacles. However, it earns a Rating 2 due to one notable dip where a stream crosses under the road. The rest of the route is uncomplicated but overgrown, with brush and branches occasionally brushing the sides of wider vehicles. Low speeds and moderate ground clearance are recommended, but 4WD is not strictly necessary under dry conditions.
