Trail Overview

John's Creek is a spur road off Stirling Creek FSR at about the 3.5 km mark. Stirling Creek FSR is well-maintained and radio-controlled due to active logging in the area. John's Creek Road is not actively maintained, and you can expect some steeper rocky sections, but most of the route has a smooth surface. Expect a blowdown on the route, and a chain or other saw would be beneficial. The route offers excellent views of the historic mines above the town of Hedley. At the top is a rutted grass trail up to incredible views of the surrounding area.

Deep snow up to 8000 ft on Old Joe Trail (Stirling Creek/Old Joe FSR) with lots of down trees and no prior tracks—had to plow my way up, chain up in -10°C for the summit. Lifted Gladiator with Wildpeaks powered through, chains essential for traction on untouched steeps. Brutal winter challenge—prepped rigs only!
