Difficulty

Clear Creek FSR presents a challenging off-road experience. The route begins with relatively manageable gravel and dirt sections but quickly becomes more demanding with rough terrain, loose rocks, steep inclines, and frequent washouts. Sharp rocks are scattered throughout, so take your time to avoid tire punctures and air down for better traction. Water crossings are common in fall, winter, and spring, especially after heavy rain, and the road is often unmaintained, with fallen trees, deep ruts, and erosion creating additional obstacles. Snow is expected in winter and spring, making conditions even more difficult. Low-clearance vehicles will not make it, and drivers should be fully prepared with recovery gear, extra fuel, and a reliable means of communication, as there is no cell service.
