Trail Overview
This gorgeous hill climb starts in the Brule Lake OHV area. An easy-to-follow path allows you to take in the stunning views of the Roche Perdrix and surrounding mountains, assuming the fog clears up! You'll soon be greeted by a few hill climbs with the steepest at 22 degrees. Two of the hills have a more difficult option with loose rock if you want to switch it up. The track is loose dirt with a few larger rocks and a couple of ditches at the top of the hills. Come rain or snow this climb will give you a challenge. At the top, turn around and put it in 4LO, and crawl back down! Camping is permitted in the area after purchasing a Brule Lake Camping Permit from a local vendor. There are a series of trails in the area that are completely free to use. You only need a permit to camp for the night. Expect to see a few other folks on the trail if you're out during the weekend. Jasper Gates Campground and Folding Mountain Brewery are both within a short distance as well as the Overlander Mountain Lodge. The town of Hinton is a 15-minute drive and has all services available year-round.
Difficulty
The track has loose dirt with loose stones throughout, none larger than about 10". There are 3 hills ranging from 16deg to 22deg. Two hills have a rockier section if you want to test your rig. There are some decent-sized ruts at the top of the hill. Expect a challenge in heavy rain or snow.
