Point to Point
This is a long and steep trail and the maintenance is not that great. You'll probably lose the trail in the brushy areas, but you'll easily find it again.
This climb is part of the Boise Grand Slam (Kepros Mountain, Cervidae Peak, Shaw Mountain). It's a perfect early spring warm-up when there is still snow in the higher elevations. Some of the early sections are extremely steep and the hard packed dirt and loose rocks make for a tricky ascent.
Overall, this can be a great out-and-back workout with very nice views.
Some Issues
Lots of wildlife, hooves and pawprints all over the trail, still covered with snow in some areas. It’s too early for some of the bushes to be covered in leaves, but in some areas they will completely block off the trail with 8ft tall walls of vegetation later in the season.
In the first stretch, lots of arrowleaf balsamroots were getting ready to bloom, the first ones should be ready in mid-late April.
