There and Back
After entering Hualapai Mountain park, drive to the end of Levi Levi Camp Rd, past rental cabins and campsites, to the trailhead. There is a $10 fee for entering the park. Begin this route by following Forest Army Way to the junction with the Potato Patch Loop trails. Next, hike around Aspen peak on Potato Patch Loop trail. You'll come to an intersection with a large map. Hike downhill on South Hayden Peak Drive past larger pines and aspen for a little less than a mile. When you meet the Hualapai Peak Trail, you'll begin the final climb to the summit. The trail is steeper and the footing looser through this section. At the base of the peak you are faced with several routes to the summit. If you move clockwise around the summit you'll find a fun class 4 scramble to the top. If you trend counter clockwise around the summit block you'll find a use trail that will lead you up a Class 3 route to the summit.Return the way you came or by any of the other great trails in this park.
This peak is named after the Hualapai Native American tribe. Hualapai means "people of the tall pines".
