Mojave Sunset Trail

The Sunset Mojave Trail is one of the nicer hiking options within Lake Havasu State Park's lakeside terrain.The 3.1 mile round trip out-and-back trail follows a generally flat course that alternates between hugging the sandy beaches along the banks of Lake Havasu, and climbing and falling along the meandering lakeside area. Beginning at the upper edge of the park's main parking lot, the trail follows a mostly gravel single track course that will take hikers and walkers past many of the park's features, including lookout points, a small native plant garden, the park campground, and ends at the Willow Wash day use area overlooking the Bridgewater Channel and the London Bridge area.The trail traces a variety of terrain, including soft sand and some stairs. It follows the washes and hills that make up the landscape along the riverbank. Visible across this section of the Colorado River are the dramatic mountain spires and cascades of the California side. There's not much shade along the hike, however there are plenty of areas where one can take a short break, and you'll likely pass quite a few others on the trail who might just be wandering around near their camping cabin or exploring around the day use areas.While there are a few areas where the trail curves around landscape or features, it is generally easy to stay on course as you just continue heading in one direction or the other.The Sunset Mojave Trail lies with Lake Havasu State Park, and as such is subject to all park rules, hours and entry fees.
