Point to Point
This Finger Lakes Trail segment begins at the trail crossing on North Urbana Road and heads south into the heart of Birdseye Hollow State Forest. The route follows a singletrack through dense hardwood forest, with rolling elevation changes and occasional rocky or root-filled tread. A short distance in, the trail crosses a seasonal stream and continues through shaded groves of maple and beech. Stay on the marked Finger Lakes Trail, continuing past marshy lowlands and several small, secluded ponds tucked just off the main path.
As the route progresses south, expect sections of uneven or narrow tread, particularly near wetland edges and low-lying forest. Wildlife sightings—especially songbirds and white-tailed deer—are common in the quieter stretches. The trail exits the state forest near Ridge Road, where roadside parking may be limited. This section is best for hikers seeking solitude and a quieter backcountry experience along the FLT.
