This route begins at a small trailhead off Bean Station Road and travels south along the Finger Lakes Trail into Urbana State Forest passing a pioneer cemetary just after the trailhead. After a short distance, the trail turns east, gradually climbing through a mixed hardwood forest. Wet sections and boardwalks appear as the trail enters a wetland zone, with opportunities to spot songbirds and amphibians. A short spur leads to the Huckleberry Bog Wildlife Viewing Platform, which includes interpretive signage and views over a quiet bog.
The route curves west then meets the Bog Nature Trail heading north and connecting back to the original Finger Lakes Trail. The route is moderate in difficulty, with uneven footing and occasional muddy sections. Wildlife viewing and peaceful woodland scenery make this a worthwhile day hike in the Finger Lakes region.
