Casino Trail

While traveling primarily through Hudson Highlands State Park Preserve, this trail actually starts from Mount Beacon Park. If you can, try to hit this trail on a weekday, as it gets incredibly busy on the weekends. From the start, follow a nice gravel path to a metal staircase. After this, the trail gets steep and rocky. While it's very wide, it's no longer a road due to erosion. There are many trails leading up the steep ridge, but the park service has done a poor job designating which trail for you to take. If you're afraid of getting lost, be sure to follow the red blazes, and bring the Mobile App with you to quell any concerns. Once you arrive at the old casino, be sure to take time to check out the ruins. Much of what is remaining is a foundation, but the old cable house has walls intact and is interesting to photograph. Be aware: this is a very large viewpoint with many people, so you might have to wait patiently for your chance to take a nice photo. Most people turn back from the viewpoint unless you are making a loop through the park. If so, continue up the Casino Trail to reach the Wilkinson Memorial Trail and a variety of loop options.
