The Falling Run Nature Trail begins and ends near the parking area at the end of New Vernon Road or Park Road in the northwestern section of Maurice K. Goddard State Park. This route offers mostly easy walking through a mixed hardwood and hemlock forest, closely following the course of Falling Run. Early on, hikers cross one of several wooden footbridges as the trail parallels the stream. From here, the route continues through gentle, mossy terrain with occasional muddy sections, especially after rain.
Small waterfalls and scenic stream crossings appear along the way. A short distance from the start, the trail passes remnants of a historic spring house tucked into the woods. The route eventually curves back toward the trailhead, offering occasional glimpses of nearby Lake Wilhelm. With minimal elevation change and a smooth tread, this trail is a good choice for families and those looking for short day hikes in northwestern Pennsylvania.
