Description
Bretzfelder Park is located just off Prospect Street in Bethlehem, New Hampshire, a short drive north from I‑93 via Route 302. A small year-round parking area provides direct access to several short forest trails within this 77-acre community park, owned and managed by the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests. Most routes begin near the central trailhead kiosk and form a network of easy walking paths through mixed woods, past interpretive signs, and across gentle terrain. The Bretzfelder Wildlife Habitat Trail is the primary loop and offers a relaxing walk through northern hardwood forest, with a few short ups and downs. About halfway around the loop, a side path leads to the park’s most iconic feature—a massive white pine estimated to be over two centuries old. Several spur trails connect to small ponds, quiet picnic spots, and additional trail segments that can extend or shorten the route. In winter, these trails are commonly used for snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. Leashed dogs are welcome, and interpretive signs provide educational value for families. This is a peaceful destination for a short, low-elevation outing in the White Mountains foothills.
