Description
This trail starts off Rocky Lane, at Rape Gap, and heads eastward. The trail travels along a woods road, through an open area, then turns left (just after crossing over a creek). Here, both Atwood Trail (orange blazes) and Hood Loop (blue blazes) coincide northward. Continue following this northward until you reach where Hood Loop turns right (off Atwood Trail). Here, Atwood Trail turns left and travels independent of Hood Loop. The trail crosses over Rocky Lane and follows a long loop, that will drop you out at Sawmill Lake. The trail turns right, here, and follows the orange blazes along McCutchen Springs Road. When you see Bear Lake Connector (on the left), the trail turns right (back into the woods). This next section will take you past Atwood Point Spur (on the right); the trail turns left and travels up to McCutchen Springs Road. It turns right (onto McCutchen Springs Road), travels up past Chamberlain Trail, and continues until it reaches the height of the ridge. While the maps show the road continuing on, the orange blazes end here.
