Description
From High Street, the main entrance and offices for Hale Reservation can be found off Dover Road on Carby Street to the northwest of Westwood. Follow the road toward North Beach and Cat Rock Field, where parking and restrooms are available. For this hike, accessing the main Page & Sadie Trail loop is the goal. This track starts on the blue, Storrow Pond Trail with a return on the orange, Split Rock Trail to avoid having to repeat any section of trail. With only a couple hundred yards from the main parking area, visitors can choose which trail they take toward the lake. At the lake, follow the red, Page & Sadie Trail as it gently rises and falls along the contours of the shoreline. The Hale Summer Club uses the beach on the south side of the lake where you may find a restroom and additional parking off Brune Way depending on the time of year. You may cross several trails or roads along the loop, but staying near the lake will keep you on the right track. Visitors will pass an electrical line corridor on the west side of the lake.
History & Background
The land was owned by Robert Sever Hale and provided for scouts from Boston in 1918.
