This hike begins at the parking lot of the Vermont Tennis Courts with the Commonwealth Canyon Connector. The Commonwealth Canyon Connector heads north past the tennis courts for roughly 1/4 of a mile before reaching a juncture with the wider Riverside Trail. From here, turn right to follow the Riverside Trail as it turns to the south before once again turning eastward. Along this potion of the Riverside Trail you'll enter Aberdeen Canyon and pass by the Aberdeen Trail, a narrow spur that leads up the canyon, on your left. The Riverside Trail then turns toward the northeast and climbs to reach Vista Del Valle Drive. When you reach the paved road here you'll take a dramatic hairpin turn to follow the East Ridge (Hogback) Trail westward. On this trail you'll wrap around the southern edge of Glendale Peak. After you've been climbing on the East Ridge (Hogback) Trail for 3/10 you'll reach a juncture with Henry's Trail, which makes a sharp turn southward from the juncture. Turn right to follow Henry's Trail and you'll quickly reach the summit of Glendale Peak. From here you can enjoy fantastic views of the L.A. area. Once you're finished at the summit, continue to follow Henry's Trail to the southeast to reconnect with Vista del Valle Drive. Once you hit the paved road follow your original route on the Riverside Trail westward before reaching the Commonwealth Canyon Connector to make your way back to the tennis courts and the original parking area. Thanks to John McKinney, The Trailmaster, for sharing this trail description.
