Boy Scout to Berlin Forest Loop

Boy Scout Trail to Berlin Forest is a 3.2-mile route located in Griffith Park, a public recreation area located near Los Angeles, California. The loop consists mostly of double track dirt trails and features picnic areas, benches, wildflowers, and views of both the city and mountains. This trail is easy to follow and a popular hiking, running, and nature viewing location.The Boy Scout Trail begins with a steep climb that is briefly shaded before it becomes fully exposed and gently winding on the way to the Griffith Park Observatory.The trail flattens out at the Griffith Park Observatory, where visitors can enjoy 360-degree views of Los Angeles. After walking through the Observatory parking lot (passing a restroom and drinking fountains if needed), you'll come to the shaded Berlin Forest, where there are benches with scenic views. Continuing north, the route loops around Mount Hollywood and then returns down the way you came.PARKINGStreet parking is available near the Boy Scout Trailhead located off of Vermont Canyon Road. HEAT AND WATERGriffith Park has trails that are accessible year-round. However, there is a moderate climb and minimal shade on this route.
