Description
The Glade Trail is one of several easily accessible hiking routes inside the Ruth and Paul Henning Conservation Area.At 1.3 miles in total length, the dirt single track hiking route makes a good path to get out and stretch your legs to an easy hike with expansive views from its elevated location. The trail begins at a wooden observation deck beside the parking lot. This is where most visitors turn around. Those descending the stairs from the deck will find some scenic trails tracing a path through the airy woods and along exposed hillside. With its central location, it's likely you'll briefly encounter other hikers, however this trail doesn't feel crowded at all.Depending on the season, hikers might get views of colorful wild flowers growing from the grass, or see some of the animals which call this natural area home. The trail forks with the Streamside Trail at three different points, though each is well signed, so there is little need to worry about getting lost here. If anything, these multiple trail forks offer hikers a chance to lengthen their hike and explore some of the varied terrain in the area. There are a couple benches set along the trail, one on the higher portion of the loop on a wooden deck, where hikers can take a quick break and breathe in the spaciousness of the area with panoramic views. In all, the trail follows a dirt track with some roots and rocks along the way, however the shorter length makes this a good ones for hikers and children of most ability levels. The Ruth and Paul Henning Conservation Hours is open daily from 4am-10pm, and there is no charge for parking or visiting the area.
