Description
This is a rocky upland trail of moderate difficulty lined with limestone and quartz deposits that are studded with fossils. Bugs are bad in warm weathers because of proximity to swamp. The summit can also be accessed via a gently sloping ranger road which passes a home site from the 20th century adjacent to a pond and the ruins of an early 19th century cabin. The foundation and chimney of a cabin owned by writer Harry Stillwell Edwards can also be found on the summit. Ridge trail offers good views and follows a rock wall which is thought to have been constructed by Native Americans during the late woodlands-early missippian periods. Trails are well maintained closer to the parking area, but can become overgrown and blocked by fallen trees close to the southern end of the trails.
