It is a beautiful and well maintained twenty three mile long trail that is marked with wooden trail signs and blue blazes the entire way. The trail features beautiful woods, several stream crossings, interesting rock outcroppings as well as scenic views. Wild turkey and deer are commonly spotted by visitors making their way along the trail. The trail is located inside the Franklin Delano Roosevelt State Park and requires a daily use fee for parking. There are also sixteen designated campsites along the trail that can be reserved by contacting the Franklin Delano Roosevelt State Park office. There is also an active Pine Mountain Trail Association that exists to preserve and promote the trail and offers a wealth of helpful information as well as trail maps.
History & Background
