Loop
Wolfden loop is actually part of a much larger trail system known as the Pine Mountain Trail. There are numerous points on the trail where hikers can view beautiful creeks and waterfalls, a wolf's den (hence the name), a large loblolly pine tree named "Ferney," and some views overlooking the land below Pine Mountain. A number of backcountry campsites are located on the trail as well. There are parts in the beginning and middle part of the trail that can be difficult to traverse, especially for young children, elderly, or those with mobility issues. Some parts of the trail are particularly rocky and/or slippery and it is recommended that you wear hiking shoes/boots. The trail took 4 hours and 15 minutes with numerous breaks for water and lunch in between, but can be completed sooner by more experienced, in-shape hikers.
