Up Mt Grace

The Up Mt Grace route begins from a small parking area off Winchester Road within Mount Grace State Forest. From the trailhead, head north on Round Mountain Trail, following signs toward the summit and ascending gradually through hardwood forest typical of the region. The route climbs steadily with occasional steeper sections near the top. Expect mostly wooded surroundings with limited views until reaching higher elevations. Around halfway up, turn left onto the white-blazed Metacomet-Monadnock Trail and continue uphill toward the summit. At the top, a fire tower offers sweeping 360° views across Massachusetts and into southern New Hampshire and Vermont. To return, retrace your steps or turn left and follow signs to Olson Field and the parking area. This is one of the state’s recommended introductory hikes and is suitable for a range of experience levels, though snow, mud, or leaf cover can increase difficulty depending on the season.
