Begin this easy route at the trailhead on Trailside Way, where a wide footpath leads south through a quiet stretch of mixed hardwood forest. After a short distance, the trail reaches Kennedy Pond—also known as Nashoba Pond—a small, tree-lined waterbody nestled within the Nashoba Brook Wildlife Sanctuary. From here, hikers can turn left or right to follow the trail around the pond, with views of surrounding wetlands and shoreline vegetation.
The route is mostly flat, with gentle footing and occasional muddy patches depending on the season. While the main path returns to the trailhead after circling the pond, connecting routes allow hikers to explore farther into the sanctuary or continue into the Emmet Conservation Lands. The pond’s calm shoreline offers a quiet place to pause and watch for wildlife like hawks or foxes.
