Loop
From the main trailhead parking area on October Circle off Balls Hill Road, head north on the Fisher Trail through mixed forest, keeping right at the junction with the Woodland Trail. Turn left onto the Bluebird Trail to walk the edge of a restored meadow, a prime area for spotting Eastern Bluebirds and other songbirds. The Bluebird Trail merges into the Woodland Trail, which meanders through forest and floodplain toward the Concord River. Turn left where it rejoins the Fisher Trail and continue toward the dam crossing, a reliable spot for viewing ducks, turtles, and herons near the marsh and impoundment.
At the canoe and kayak landing, continue straight onto the River Loop and follow it around the base of Davis Hill, with glimpses of the river and signs of beaver activity along the way. The trail then connects to the yellow-blazed Main Trail, which enters the neighboring October Farm Riverfront property managed by Concord Land Conservation Trust. Follow this segment onto Balls Hill Road for a short distance, then turn right and pick up the Wood Duck Trail on the opposite side. This final stretch passes through wetland edge habitat before meeting Fisher Trail once more. Turn left to return to the parking area. This short nature route offers a peaceful mix of forest walking, meadow views, and consistent opportunities for wildlife observation.
