Loop
The Edgecliff Loop begins near Kasson Road in Camillus and forms a circuit through shady hardwood forests, intermittent rocky outcrops, and sections of open bluff. From the trailhead, follow the main loop route in either direction, staying alert at early junctions where unsigned side trails and offshoots frequently branch away. At several points along the route, spur paths lead to views from rocky ledges or to the remnants of the historic Split Rock quarry and stone crusher site. These ruins are among the most popular highlights and can be accessed directly from the loop or by short detours.
Although the terrain stays relatively gentle, footing can be uneven or debris-strewn near the quarry area, and sections may become muddy or overgrown outside the peak hiking season. No reliable water sources are available along the route, and trail markings are minimal—bringing a map or GPS is strongly recommended. This route appeals to hikers seeking an easy forest walk with a touch of local history and occasional bluff-top views.
