Loop
The Swift Wetland Preserve Loop begins from either Evelyn Drive or Delaware Avenue across from the Bethlehem Central High School fields. From either access point, hikers can complete a full circuit through this small, flat preserve managed by the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy. The route weaves through a quiet mix of second-growth woods and wetland habitat, using boardwalks and raised walkways to navigate seasonally soggy ground.
This easy route is open year-round and especially suited for casual walks, nature outings with kids, or a quick dog-friendly stroll (dogs must be leashed). Though close to residential neighborhoods, the trail offers a surprising sense of nature immersion, with songbirds, amphibians, and wetland plants commonly seen. Be prepared for muddy sections after wet weather and be mindful to stay on trail to protect the fragile ecosystem.
