The first couple of miles follow rolling hills and a few creek crossings. This section of the trail can be quite beautiful during blooming season. Once you get past the last creek crossing, the trail steepens and climbs over 4000 feet to its southern terminus. During the colder months, it is not uncommon to find snow in the last mile or so. Hike down the way you came.
