The Samuel A. Tamposi Water Supply Reserve (SATWaSR) spans a broad conservation area in Barrington, New Hampshire, with public trails accessible from both Tibbetts Road and Calef Highway. Hikers can explore a network of easy to moderate routes that weave through mixed forests, Atlantic white cedar swamps, and low-lying wetlands. From the Tibbetts Road trailhead, a main route heads east through rolling terrain and connects with side trails, offering longer options and more remote sections. From the Calef Highway side, wide paths lead past interpretive signs and into a quieter interior, with intersections marked by local signage.
Most trails are open year-round for hiking, biking, horseback riding, and snowshoeing, though seasonal conditions—especially in wetland areas—can make some sections muddy or icy. Boardwalks help with crossings in wetter zones, but waterproof footwear is recommended. This protected landscape also supports diverse wildlife and is open to hunting during the appropriate seasons. Trail use is non-motorized except for snowmobiles on designated winter routes. With multiple access points and peaceful natural surroundings, SATWaSR offers a rewarding way to explore protected lands in southeastern New Hampshire.
