Loop
The Fox Preserve Loop begins from the trailhead on River Road in Latham, following orange blazes through a mix of meadow, hardwood forest, and streamside ravines. The route meanders across gently rolling terrain, passing near Shaker Creek and skirting several wetland areas. At a junction near the midpoint, a short white-blazed spur offers a slight extension before reconnecting with the main loop. Trail users should stay on marked paths, as some sections run close to private property.
Keep an eye out for birds of prey, including seasonal bald eagle sightings near the river corridor. A clearing along the route provides a scenic overlook toward the Mohawk River wetlands. While the elevation change is minimal, expect muddy or icy sections in low-lying areas depending on season. This is an easy, year-round route well suited for nature walks, birdwatching, and casual hiking close to the Albany area.
