This moderate route begins at the trailhead off Hardenburgh Lane near Willow Kiln Park in Rosendale, NY. From the parking area, follow the Link Trail uphill into a mix of hardwood forest and low brush. At the first signed junction, bear right onto the Buteo Trail, which gently climbs along a wooded ridge. Watch for mountain bikers in this multi-use section. After a short distance, turn lright onto the Outcrop Trail, where the terrain becomes steeper and more rugged. This stretch features glacial erratics and exposed stone slabs underfoot. Continue straight at the next junction to reach the Lookout Trail, which climbs briefly before arriving at a scenic overlook. From here, enjoy a clear view of the Rosendale Trestle and the surrounding valley.
Beyond the overlook, descend steeply through rocky sections before rejoining the Link Trail and returning to the trailhead. Though close to town, the route feels quiet and forested throughout, offering a peaceful half-day outing with a mix of terrain and scenery.
