Description
This 25-mile trail is built on an abandoned railroad line that works its way through prairies along the backwaters of the upper Mississippi River valley. It crosses several rivers, streams, and backwaters via old railway bridges and provides some great viewing of flora and fauna that is unique to this area of the country. The Great River State Trail links to the 3 Rivers Trail, as well as the La Crosse River State Trail. There are a number of trailheads along the trail that provide parking, information, and some shelters, including the new Great River Landing in Onalaska.
