The route begins from the main trailhead at the corner of Vosburg Road and Drumm Road in Webster. From here, hikers can explore short trails within Gosnell Big Woods Preserve or connect into a longer loop that weaves through Webster Park and Whiting Road Nature Preserve. Inside the preserve, the Big Woods Trail leads into stands of oak, hickory, and hemlock, some several centuries old, while the Big Field and Meadow Trails provide easier, shorter options through open grasslands and wildflower habitat. Junctions are signed but can be confusing—carry a map or GPS to stay oriented.
Those choosing the larger route will follow paths north into Webster Park, passing through meadows and mixed forest before reaching shoreline views of Lake Ontario and a jetty overlook. The trail then loops back through Whiting Road Nature Preserve before returning to the Gosnell Big Woods parking area. Seasonal highlights include bird activity in the meadows, fall color in the hardwood forest, and guided snowshoe outings in winter. With its mix of old-growth forest, open fields, and lake scenery, the route rewards hikers with a diverse cross-section of habitats in the Webster area.
