Loop
The Tryon Park Loop begins at the main trailhead off Tryon Road, just outside downtown Tryon. From the parking area, follow the main trail into dense hardwood forest. The route meanders through rolling terrain, with a few moderate climbs over rocky sections. At early junctions, stay on the primary trail, which is well-marked, and continue deeper into the park. Small side paths connect back into the main loop, but remaining on the central route provides the clearest navigation.
About halfway around, the trail passes a series of small rock outcrops and occasional streambeds, which may hold water after rain. Expect a mix of shaded forest walking and open stretches where seasonal wildflowers grow in spring and early summer. Birdlife is common throughout, and the tree cover makes this route enjoyable even on warmer days.
The trail eventually curves back toward the starting point, closing the loop at the Tryon Road trailhead. Hikers are rewarded with a quiet woodland experience, varied terrain, and easy access from town.
