This route begins and ends at the parking lot on Bennett Hill Road in Clarksville. From the trailhead, follow the main trail south through mixed hardwood forest, climbing gently toward the base of Bennett Hill. At the first junction, stay left to follow the perimeter route in a clockwise direction. The trail winds through shaded woods with occasional rock outcroppings and seasonal muddy sections, especially in spring or after rain.
After a steady but mellow ascent, the trail reaches a spur leading to the summit of Bennett Hill. A short side trip leads to open views over the Hudson Valley and surrounding farmlands. Back on the main route, continue through forested terrain with occasional clearings and birdwatching opportunities. The final stretch gradually descends and rejoins the initial trail segment, returning to the Game Farm Road trailhead. This is one of the more accessible day hikes near Albany, offering a quiet woodland setting and rewarding views without significant elevation gain.
