Gobbler's Knob is a small section of state forest of about 300 acres. The Shawangunk Ridge Trail is the only trail in this state forest. Trailhead parking is located at the Bashakill Wildlife Management Area just to the north. From the parking area, walk south on Indian Orchard Road until you meet Otisville Road. Stay left going south along the left side of the road and you will see a set of stone steps entering the forest. The trail is marked with blue blazes and blue SRT discs. It is a constant incline as you ascend the top of the knob. There is one view location near the top, but it is not well defined and the trail is not well maintained. The trail switches back at this point as it starts to descend back down to Otisville Road. Most hike this section as part of a through hike on the SRT. If not, return the way you came.
