The Nauset Marsh Trail begins just behind the Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham, Massachusetts, within Cape Cod National Seashore. From the trailhead, follow the short Buttonbush Trail until it meets the Nauset Bike Trail, then continue onto the Nauset Marsh Trail. After crossing the bike path again and heading southeast a short distance, stay left at the junction to continue toward Coast Guard Beach. This section winds through tidal marsh and low forest, crosses several small roads, and briefly follows the bike path once more. Turn right onto the path and rejoin the trail just after the boardwalk.
The main route forms a loop through open fields, marsh edge, and shaded, recovering forest. On the return, stay left to follow the eastern edge of Salt Pond back to the Visitor Center. Some sections may be submerged at high tide — check conditions before starting out. Open year-round, this easy route offers excellent bird-watching, broad views across Nauset Marsh, and a scenic extension to the Atlantic barrier beach.
