Humboldt River Trail

Elko's Humboldt River Trail is a short section of mostly paved multi use path paralleling a section of the Humboldt River through the town.The path traces the river's path, however at only two points does it pass within view of the water. Instead, it generally remains a flat paved path nestled between the Humboldt's overflow area and some of Elko's business and residential neighborhoods. While it is located slightly west of the downtown area, it's not the most scenic choice of trails. However it does, in turn, offer views of the nearby mountains and makes for a good nearby area to get out and stretch your legs on a walk or run, or to walk the dog.Either endpoint seems like it may have been placed with the idea to return in the future and add more. The western section comes to an end next to a business fence, where trail users can opt to continue on dirt toward the Elko Sports Complex or wrap around the fencing to the neighborhood's street parking. At the east end, the path comes to an end at the 12th Street Bridge.There are multiple entrance points, including at the base of the 9th Street Pedestrian Bridge. As far as parking and ease of entrance, accessing the trail through a gate lying to the right of the basketball/tennis courts at Southside Park might be the best option.There are no bathrooms or water along the trail. If you're looking for something scenic or wild, keep looking. However if you're in town and would like a central trail to get a short hike in, the Humboldt River Trail makes a good option.
