There and Back
This short, easy route begins at the Tower Rock State Park trailhead, located just off I-15 near the Hardy Creek Exit. From the parking area, follow the well-defined path as it gradually climbs along the base of Tower Rock. The trail remains relatively flat and straightforward, making it accessible for most hikers. While the route does not summit the rock itself, it provides several vantage points for viewing the sheer cliffs and the surrounding river valley. Interpretive signs along the way highlight the area's geologic history and its significance as a landmark for the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
Dogs are allowed on leash, and the trail is open year-round. There is no drinking water available, so plan to bring your own. This quick hike offers a rich blend of natural beauty and historical context, with rewarding views of the Missouri River and the towering volcanic bluff that gives the trail its name.
