This mellow hiking route begins and ends at the main trailhead off Macks Lane near the Mid-Hudson Bridge in Poughkeepsie. From the parking area, follow the Yellow Trail through a quiet forest setting along wide, former carriage roads. Within a short distance, pass the moss-covered stone ruins of the Cedarcliff estate—remnants of a 19th-century mansion. At the first junction, bear right onto the White Trail as the path starts to gently rise toward scenic views of the Hudson River and the Mid-Hudson Bridge.
At the next junction head east, before turning left onto the Blue Trail, which contours through hardwood forest and connects back to the Yellow Trail. Turn right to complete the loop and return to the trailhead. While mostly flat, sections may be muddy or slick following rain, and ticks are common during warmer months.
Less crowded than nearby parks, this short route offers peaceful woods, glimpses of the river, and quiet historical interest—ideal for easy day hikes in the Hudson Valley.
