Mount Antero via Little Browns Creek

From the Browns Creek trailhead (8,900'), head west on the well-defined Browns Creek Trail. After 1.4 miles, turn right onto the Colorado Trail and follow it north for 0.3 mile, then make a sharp left onto the Little Browns Creek Trail (#1430) and continue west and southwest, descending slightly to reach Little Browns Creek near 10,200'. Continue west, climbing steadily alongside the creek; by 11,000' you've covered 4 miles from the trailhead. Near 11,700' the terrain opens, and the trail soon reaches treeline. Cross Little Browns Creek and climb a steeper slope into the upper drainage, keeping the creek to your right as you continue west. The trail ends at a broad saddle between Mount Antero and 13,667' Mt. White, at 12,830'. From the saddle, turn right onto the road system leading into Mount Antero's upper terrain, turning right again at the next junction, then staying right to head northeast. Follow this road to 13,100', turn left, and climb 100 feet to a final junction at 13,200'. The road switchbacks up to about 13,700' on the east side of Point 13,800'. Pass through an old mining area to reach Antero's south ridge. Leave the road here and follow trail segments along the right side of the ridge crest — the most engaging terrain of the route — to a small saddle at 13,850', at the base of the final ascent. Climb to the summit by staying near the ridge crest. Retrace the route to the trailhead. This route joins the West Slopes road and ridge system near 12,830' and shares the same final approach to the summit.
