Trail Overview

This trail starts off by dropping into a narrow and winding wash and follows this wash to the end. Along the trail, you will experience the dirt of the wash as well as boulder fields, V-notches, steep slick rock climbs, and significant ledges. The first half of the trail has several optional lines for the more adventurous, but all the way through, you will be working through boulder fields and ledges. Around the halfway point, you will come to the first V-notch. This obstacle can take several attempts to get it just right. As you continue, you will come to a bowl with a dirt climb to a small ledge in front of you, a long, steep, slick rock climb to your left, and several ledges that can be fun to navigate off to the right. Any of these routes can be challenging, but once out of the bowl, you come to the real challenge. As you come to the end of the trail, you will drop back into the wash and climb up a 3-4 foot boulder ledge, and at this point, you have another choice. To the left is the namesake obstacle, a deep V-notch with a slight curve to the right, with a 3-6 foot ledge climb right at the end. Straight ahead are two other routes, both require climbing a 3-foot ledge, and from there, a small crack can be navigated to get out of the wash on the left, and to the right is a massive wall of slickrock with high consequences for mistakes. Once you have navigated one of the three options to exit the trail, it is a short distance up a steep dirt path, and you have finished the trail and have the option to continue to the next trail or head back to camp.
